Wheels (again)

Post by Jonnyboy on Sat Feb 04, 2012 3:51 am

My car 1.2 collection is 1 year though a PCP contract, I love the car but Mrs Jonnyboy also enjoys crashing it into kerbs, 3 wheels are very scuffed and after ringing Renault Finance was told I will be charged for the excess wear & tear on the wheels when the car goes back-which is fair enough, I am now intending to replace the standard alloys with others and will pay approx £3-400 for a set, I'm planning on sending the knackered ones to a firm such as Prestige or Pristine Wheels for repair & keeping them safe until I put the car in...any comments or ideas folks re replacement ones & has anyone used such firms for repairs..Prestige in say they will charge £61 + vat (Renault say new 17" wheel £255)

Same

Mrs mashed was unlucky to hit a big pot hole and a curb scuffed up a bit but not the paint. Its easy done found a restore alloys garage costing £60/£70 a wheel to restore.

What was the result like..as good as new..? I'm ordering some wolfrace ones this week and will put them on until the pcp runs out & then put the Renault ones back on.
Renault insist that you have proper renault ones on when it goes back & bought from a vat registered garage..

I need the services of an alloy doctor in South Scotland - I positioned the wing mirror to give me view of my back wheel when I was reversing so I didn't scuff the alloy on the kerb, and only ended up doing the front one instead. Did you just search for 'restore alloys'. Appreciate if any Scottish wind drivers could point me in the right direction. Mr Kats is going to be very upset when he notices what I've done to 'the precious'. Sad

I have been told that http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/ are good, havent used them but rang them and about £60 per corner, they have a free carraige servive and takes 2 or 3 days all done, I live in the Northeast so I would imagine they would do the same deal In Scotland...

Still not done but £60-£80 per wheel seems to be the going rate.
Looks like the Malta blue paint on alloys might be a problem if we scratch that up.

Fancy wheels there Jonnyboy!

I needed new ones about 200 miles after buying the car. I've only got the rear driver side that I've yet to scratch. I'd have them repaired, but I just know I'll catch them again day after. I might have a look at doing something with them in the summer.
