Wind Extras and Accessories

Post by UnluckyXIII on Wed Jan 04, 2012 12:10 am

Maybe it's just me but I can't seem to find many of these about. My fiancée owns a Ford Ka and the range of accessories and extras that are available to her is just outstanding! Has anyone else had a hard time trying to locate Wind accessories or extras? Even the Renault dealers in my area don't seem to have much available and nothing in stock (I've had to get my Wind mats off eBay).

Both models are well equipped, the S/GT line especially, probably better than most ford KA's, so it's hard to imagine what 'extra's' you're thinking of.

With less Winds on the road after nearly two years than Ford KAs are sold each week, and right-hand drive production now ended, I don't expect Renault UK to sell accessories for the Wind in future.

Only extras I wanted for the Wind when I bought it, was....

£50 spacesaver spare wheel in the boot, but I got that free as a deal clincher, as I hate goo+compressor kits.

£200 Wind deflector...did not buy this as I thought it well overpriced, and will get one on ebay, if it is known to be useful, Have not read anywhere yet if it works effectively.

I am also looking for an extra that my old Renault 5 had, it was a stick-on chrome door insert that fitted snuggly in the recess to prevent scratching paintwork with your fingernails when opening door handle (the exact same design as the winds, and will be a scratch prone area in the future). Not found anything similar yet.

As far as I'm aware all uk spec winds came as standard with s spare tyre despite it being listed as an extra. This was due to a Renault UK policy of standardising spare wheel figment across the entire range.

The wind deflector was shown on the initial press test cars but I don't think it was ever made available to buy, probably due to it being ineffective/unnecessary.

I'm sure you could fit body protection clear film to the handle recesses maybe use a hairdryer to soften it as you smooth it down? Some of the twingo accessories fit the wind.

So the salesman played a fib on me with regard to the spare wheel.

They always get the last laugh in Very Happy

Anyway its better than a goo + compressor kit, as a spare wheel gives you 100% chance of driving away again after a punture.

No spare? Maybe I'm wrong about them being standard, it was something I read on the Renault website before I bought mine. I have a spare, but it's not listed as an option on my original invoice...

Well that proves some of us do not have the spare wheel.

And a nail in the side wall is useless for a goo + compressor kit, so I bet Knebby is back to the dealer ASAP to get a spare wheel, brace and jack Very Happy

Excellent service from Kwik Fit's mobile service, Phoned them at 8.20 am yesterday and had the tyre sorted out and on the car at my house by 1.00 pm, the guy having come from Dundee to West Cumbria via Carlisle pick up the tyre. Top!

We repaired a puncture in the tyre of the smart Roadster caused by a (quite large) screw using the 'goo' stuff one evening.

After driving to the B&B then checking the tyre pressure in the morning, inflating the tyre a little we set off on a 200 mile trip from Lancashire, back to Lincolnshire. After driving 30 odd miles (gently) on the motorway, I checked the pressure again and it was spot on. We then drove another 130 miles (at motorway speeds feeling more confident) and checked the pressure once more, still spot on. Drove the remaining 60 miles across the Lincolnshire wolds. Called in at the garage here in Mablethorpe to order a tyre. Left the car overnight, Mrs Admin used the car for a couple of days for work and the tyre remained fully inflated.

All this with the screw sticking out of the tyre as I couldn't pull it out, or push it in. I suppose it was in the 'floor' of the tyre, and not the side wall, but I was well impressed.

I would have requested the compressor & 'goo' if I'd known the book was wrong and I wasn't going to get it with the car as stated.

I remember years ago seeing a nail head sticking out of the tyre tread, goodness knows how long it had been there, but I made the mistake of pulling it out. Of course, the tyre deflated straight away!
