Change of colours

Post by Admin on Sun Jun 12, 2011 3:21 am

At the request of a member, I have changed the forum 'wallpaper' from the (admittedly) rather busy flowery background to a more subtle carbon fibre style effect.

As ever, nothing is that easy and it has necessitated rather a lot of other items to have their colours adjusted (buttons, text boxes, shadows, fonts, foreground fonts, background fonts, loads more) in order to ensure they remain visible and readable. If you spot some text or buttons that are indistinct due to the change of colour, let me know where the problem lies and I'll try to adjust it some how. I know the profile information may not be as clear as it might have been, but I prefer it this way as it is less 'in your face' than it was, meaning the focal point is now the message text, rather than the profile text. The profile text is perfectly readable but not so distracting as it was.

Whilst I liked the subtlety of the dark profile text, it was a little hard to read on certain monitors (though not on my Mac at home). I have finally found the correct setting and have increased the visibility of it, while (hopefully) retaining some of the subtle effect I liked so much.

There is every possibility that not everyone will like the way it looks, but I have to agree the old style wasn't that great either! If you really can't live with how it looks now, let me know and I'll see if I can't give it some more thought.

The main problem is that MotionForum has a limited number of themes available, and those that are available seem to my eyes to look like the inside of a cheap massage parlour. Not that I'd know what that looks like of course.

Hope you like the tweaked look.

Second that, looks good Admin - a much cleaner, more professional look. At this rate we may become the "official" Renault Wind Forum!

I'm pleased that so far people seem to like the new look.

The banner at the top is not all that great I know, but I'm not very good with Photoshop. If anyone has better skills they are welcome to try.

If possible I'd like to keep it to a similar height and width, with the background colour as close to the surrounding title background as can be. I know there is a slight colour change between the two on 'my' banner, and I'd prefer any replacements to be as close, if not better.

Perhaps you could post your work in this thread initially?

If more than one person takes up the challenge perhaps we could take a straw poll for the favourite?
