The Renault Bug...

Post by k8ie on Fri Apr 22, 2011 12:13 pm

Well, it looks like my partner has decided to jump the Renault bandwagon!
On Tuesday he picks up his 11 plate Renault Megane Coupe (Tom Tom Edition).
Im quite excited though to be honest as I haven't had a test drive yet and I would like to compare the 'feel' of it to the Wind...
Ultimately I think ours would win hands down anyway! cheers

We very nearly bought one of those that was on offer at less than the Wind. Mrs Admin said the Wind was 'More you'! I can't imagine what she meant!

It was in the metallic copper colour, almost as good as the red, but not as good as the lime green!

Our Wind is the 4th Renault myself and my Wife have had in 6 years!

She currently had a 2007 Clio, and had a 2004 Clio before that. My previous car was a Citroen C1 which I had for a short while to save money as the commute to work fell dramatically, but before that, I also had a 2007 Clio. Smile When our financial situation improved, we really wanted something fun to be able to use when we go on holiday in the UK. We looked at MX-5 (too dear), Used Honda S2000 (Too expensive on fuel) & a Clio Gordini 200 (Very very tempted, but 20mpg fuel economy, Insurance & RFL was too much)

They're cheap, very well equipped for the money, fun to drive and nowhere near as dull as most of the other mainstream manufacturers are, and if hot hatches are your bag, no-one else comes close. Provided you can afford to put petrol in them of course!

My son has the megane coupe,i music. Also bought pre reg and with friends and family discount.I drive it often as my car is in the garage and we only have a small driveway. It's a very good but normal car which bears no comparison to the rough and ready wind, which for me are the characteristics that make the wind special. If he could of,he would get a car like mine,it was just a question of money so i guess he's waiting for mine.lol.

I had a Clio 16v, a good few years ago, and #2 daughter had a mk2 Clio as her first car, 8 years ago. Neither was outstanding IMHO, so we'll have to see how the Wind does.

Had my magane cc 165 bhp for five years from new.Not one thing went wrong with it.My sons friends, many of them Renault mechanics all said that it would be good for 30000/3years before problems start to raise their heads, hence I got rid of it.Apart from another new meg cc,nice but a bit to fat and heavy for my liking.Did test drive a Duke and Ds3 and considered vw cabrio 25k,way too expensive for such a small engine. The wind was a godsend and the fact it was a now or never decision for a new one, was a no brainer.+2 seats and a boot are all I really need, along with the fun factor.
